cmpaula Posted April 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Are the seas usually choppy leaving Southampton? We are sailing the Med and our daughter has a bit of motion sickness when the seas are rough. I plan on giving her Bonine but it would be nice to know what the "norm" is. Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2009 If you're sailing from Southampton down to the Med., the English Channel is the least of your worries. The seas can be choppy and/or with fairly significant swells down through the Bay of Biscaye (off France/Spain), and in the Atlantic off Portugal, before you get into the Med. Best bet is to start the Bonine before you sail, then ease off if she feels good and the seas are calm.
cmpaula Posted April 27, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted April 27, 2009 I will make sure I have plenty of Bonine for her...thanks so much for your prompt answer!
Rare John Bull Posted April 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Have to agree with Wendy. But Biscay is very unpredicable. You don't say when you're sailing. Biscay is even more unpredictable in winter, and the English Channel can play up in autumn/winter. So now that we've filled you full of misgivings, it'll be smooth as a millpond just to make us look silly. Its kinda mischievous like that.
