If we are diverted to Freeport we have a goup(about 20) 18-19 yr olds that were looking for beach fun in Mexico....they could legally but beer also....(there are as many or more adults with them) Is there anyplace they can do this in Freeport economically. They have worked all year for this trip and we figured their off ship expenses based on Mexico. If anyone can suggest a beach...etc...please do. We will be on the Fantasy out of NO on May 30.

Best bet is go to Our Lucaya by shared cab ($5pp each way) and in the marketplace is Count Basie Square which is ringed with bars that are the cheapest on the island and usually have a younger crowd. Drinks are free while gambling at the casino (across the street)..

One other option is Viva fortuna, an AI... best bet is thru the ship at $90pp as the cab would be at least $15pp each way and it is $60 to get in.... Free booze/food but you gotta drink a good bit to be worth it. I think is is $90pp thru the ship.

Shots can be had for $2-3, beer same at Our Lucaya in the Marketplace... DO NOT try buying them at the swim-up bar oceanfront as it's very expensive.

I too am taking 5 college kids and researching to find something fun for them to do.

I've been to Freeport myself and I hate it.

While researching I've come across articles about Lucaya Beach.

Said it was like $5 each one way if you take a taxi bus.

If you take a taxi, it said $25 for two people.

Also it said from port to Lucaya is about 25 minutes.

When I was there before (about 20 yrs ago.. hope it's changed) I went to a hotel AI for the day and it was quiet but nothing to write home about.

So, if you can afford the AI from Carnival I'm guessing that would be the best deal for your money if they do drink.

I think we have decided just to do the Peterson Cay Kayak & Snorkel Tour with Carnival and in Key West we are going to Higgs Beach...

Higgs Beach has a place to buy lunch, restuarant, rent watersports equipment, chair rentals and restrooms, so I think the kids might find something to do there.

We are more into Snorkeling and such, and none of these five drink.

Either way it's going to cost us much more than Mexico with much less to do... And.... These kids are not going to have as much fun...

I know, I was a travel agent for a long time and took many seniors on their trips. And these ports we are changing to are not thrilling by any means.

But, we must smile and make the best of it.

Have a Blessed Trip!!!
