bdklein Posted May 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2009 Apparently there was some sort of issue today at the Miami port? Maybe people fleeing Cuba in a rowboat? Anyone have any insight??
BlueHerons Posted May 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2009 The Port of Miami is restricted to tankers, cruise ships, and other commercial boats. It could be anything. People flleeing Cuba in a rowboat would never have made it past Key West. More likely it was a private vessel that wondered into Government Cut. There is always an issue at the Port of Miami. Just saying..we have cubans in all kinds of odd vessels land in Palm Beach County (west palm beac) quite frequently. I think the last was a 1950s car turned into a boat

Gathina Posted May 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2009 In South Florida, anything goes.. Boat loads of Cubans regularly land up on Hutchinson Island in Indian River/St.Lucie County all the time. Sadly, whenver something 'weird' in the news happens it's always in South Florida it seems. I can hardly wait for trade embargo to lift and there's a riot in Miami. That'll be the time I plan my next vacation to Idaho. Haha.

Can you refresh my memory? Were they sent back or did they make it?
