Choosing which ruins to visit -- OY! Help appreciated -- Xposted to HAL board

There are SO many "ruins" shore excursions listed on our Carib cruise, and I've not even started to look at independent touring! I've eliminated the ones that require "small plane" travel :D, and am still left with lots to choose from. We are not crazy about spending 4 or 5 hours on a bus, in order to spend 1/2 hour at a site. Can anyone give me any feedback on the ruins listed? I have lots of time to pick, but need to starting "zooming in" on 2 or 3 to do more research.

We are able to walk long distances, over uneven ground, at high elevations. Thanks in advance!

We did a private tour of the Alta Ha Ruins. So much better then the cruiselines tour for sure. We spent a considerable amount of time considering the cruiselines guest came and went-- no guide. (which our tour came with the guide so knowing what I was looking at became important.

I didnt find much more to do in Belize so this tour was great.

the reason we did the Alta ha ruins-- was the time spent on a bus

the chicaban ones were a lot further-- its hot enough without the added time on the bus.

are you looking to book private or through the cruiselines?

the private tour is the way to go- I couldnt believe the cruiselines tour-- they paid 50% more then we did but we got better service.

The guide itself was priceless.

Let me look tonight to see what was the name of the comoany.

Make sure that whoever you book with-- comes with a guide at least.
