Need help buying Venice Alilaguna water bus tickets online

Recommended Posts

Need help buying Alilaguna water bus tickets online for the routes from Stazione Marrittima (cruise port) to San Marco. I see the airport routes listed on venicelink.com but not the ones from the cruise port. Anyone have the answer? Thanks.

You do not need to worry about this. There is a little kiosk just outside the luggage area where they sell tickets--takes 30 seconds. Then you just walk onto the waiting boat. Honest!

That was quick. Thanks. Do you happen to know the cost? We are trying to decide on Alilaguna vs private water taxi.

The Alilaguna is (subject to change) e6.50 per person from Maritime Station. That should be about 1/2 the price of a water taxi.

1/2? More like a 10th :) We did it the other way and paid 3 Euro for our bags as well. Still a steal compared to a Water Taxi assuming your hotel is very close to the stop.

Thanks for all the info. We overnight in Venice on the Ruby and plan to do a dry run on the Alilaguna when we first arrive and find our hotel so we don't drag our luggage all over looking for the place the next day when we disembark.

Good plan, we did the same thing on our first trip to Venice. Keep in mind though on the water taxis that they do try and match you up. We shared with two other couples so the bill wasn't too bad. If your off the beaten path a bit, it might be worth it.

We want to get a three day pass on the water bus as we arrive on the 5th and don't leave til the 7th. Do you have any problems carrying the luggage on to the waterbus? Does the water bus have a stop at the cruise port? or do you have to walk to the parking area first?

There's a couple of different modes of transportation. There are vaporetto's...these you can buy a 3 day pass. They are basically Venice's bus system. Commuters, locals, tourists, they're busy and would be a bit difficult to be lugging luggage back and forth. They also don't stop at the port, they stop at Piazza Roma and you'd have to walk to take a car taxi. It's not far, but it is a few blocks over a bridge.

Then there is the Alilaguna Water buses. They run from the Airport to St. Marks and from St. Marks to the Port. This is the one that's 6 Euro pp and 3 Euro for a big bag. Very easy with the luggage, they're meant for luggage.

The third option is a private water taxi, nice way to travel, but they can be on the pricey side.

That is an EXCELLENT idea. Some where in central Venice there is a calle (street) that goes in a straight line for more than 20 meters. I haven't found it yet, but I am sure that it is there. :)
