Erica, thanks so much for the information in your post about fees. I love to learn foreign languages, and at first I thought these fees were high. When I gave it a minute's thought, I realized that some people spend hundreds of dollars in the spa because that's what they like. Others spend their money in the casino or bingo or on their bar tab. I don't drink anything stronger than caffeine free diet soda!

For $100, I would love unlimited time to learn another language when we are on our 12 day cruise on Mercury with 6 sea days in January.

Everyone spends their money the way that makes them happiest. I have no intention of buying jewelry or expensive souvenirs on this cruise. I've been to the Caribbean probably 20 times and there's nothing new I want to see, so I won't be doing formal shore excursions. I like the casino, but I try to be very disciplined about how much money I'm willing to lose on a cruise. Massages do nothing for me. What's $100 for hours and hours of pleasure?

I can't wait!!

I wonder if there will be a charge to participate in any of these programs.

Hi Shirley, Erica posted $ amounts..unless your comment was

rhetorical?

Doesn't anyone just like to sit on their balcony or deck chair with a good book or binoculars anymore?

all these extra things take up space, utilize staff & cause extra advertising... the dailies used to have much more interesting info about the route, the ports (non-shopping) and the stars--now it's all about what you can buy!

oh well--some of it will last & some will fizzle--I give them some credit for trying diff things.. I did enjoy learning the hula & making leis on our hawaii trip--FREE OF CHARGE!

Hi hcat,:) yes, I love reading a good book too but I am guessing there

are people who would enjoy these products offered.

Nobody is forced to buy anything and not every type of offering

is interesting to each person.

Different strokes for different folks:)

I suspect there will be a lot of tweaking as feedback starts to pour in from pax, especially with respect to fees. Wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the new offerings are a big hit and others are met with a mediocre response. Celebrity Life will likely be a work in progress for months to come.

There are websites where you can learn a foreign language from your computer at home at no charge.

Would you think that these new programs have a cost attached or free?

When we sailed on the Solstice they were offering PhotoShop Elements classes - we paid $20 for one class, thus I'm sure most of the classes will have a fee attached to them.

:) Yes, I am quite sure also. I was just curious as to what others thought.

So why didn't they put the charges on the original press release?

They never seem to mention charges on original press releases. As an example, when thet originally announced on the new Speciality Restos on the Solstice, no charges were mentioned.
