When we were in St. Thomas in Feb/09 on the Crown we used the pirates tour/water taxis to get downtown, etc. We will be on the AOS next Feb/10 and I can't find anything about it.Does anyone know if it is still operating? And does anyone know where the AOS usually docks?

Thank you

Rianvi:)

The Pirate Harbor Tour is no longer operating. They were fined for picking up passengers at the stops instead of on the ships as per their operating agreement. I think they also lost some contracts with some of the cruise lines, so they couldn't afford to keep operating.

AOS docks at Havensight, as do all Royal Caribbean ships.

Does anyone know if the Pirate Water Taxi has been replaced by someone else since they are no longer operating???

Dan

Alot of controversy with this type of business here in St Thomas as it takes money out of the taxi drivers pockets. Taxis drivers have alot of clout on St Thomas and messing with them was not a good idea.

The Pirates Water taxi while in existence was harrassed every day.......

Dan - Crown Bay to downtown is about 1.7 miles - its walkable if you are up for the distance; flat, sidewalk most of the way, not all that scenic until you get into town - mostly you walk past commercial places (shopping center, school, bank, cemetary, post office...). Otherwise a taxi is around $4 pp, ow.
