WendyKroy Posted August 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2009 I'm just starting some research on Disney cruises, and was wondering if someone would be able to answer that question. Thanks so much!
LadyZolt Posted August 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2009 I'm just starting some research on Disney cruises, and was wondering if someone would be able to answer that question. A "verandah" stateroom is one that has an actual open air verandah. The "navigator's verandah" is enclosed but with a large open porthole. The furniture on a regular verandah is two chairs and a small table that you can move around. The navigator's verandah has fixed, unmoveable seating. You can probably go to Google and hit "images" to see pics of both types. -LadyZolt
sgtbjb603 Posted August 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2009 A "navigator's verandah" stateroom does have a moveable table and chair but has one fixed bench seat. They are located to the rear of the ship. The wonder has an oval cut out and the magic has a circle cut out. We have had 2 "navigator's verandah" and enjoyed they very much. One was an upgrade and we booked the other one.
WendyKroy Posted August 18, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks guys. If you had the choice between the two, would the regular Verandah be better? It just seems more open, and like it has more of a view.
jelbnl Posted August 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks guys. If you had the choice between the two, would the regular Verandah be better? It just seems more open, and like it has more of a view. Matter of personal preference... The navigators doesn't get a lot of sun if any at all due to the covering. Another thing that hasn't been mentioned here, the navagator veranda's only hold 3 people, if you have more than that, you have to go with a regular balcony. djpolly Posted August 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2009 If you are traveling with small children, the balcony would be better because they can see through it but with the nav you would have to lift them up to look out
metrowon Posted August 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2009 The biggest differance, between the two, is unobsrtucted views, and the location on board. The Navigator's are not located in the midships area. The closer you are to the middle of the ship, the less motion, you will encounter. We've had a cat #6, a number of times, and twice a cat #5, because we like being in the middle of the ship. Look at the ship's decks, if you are prone to motion sickness. Sometimes, it's not always smooth sailing. Each catagory upward offers differant advantages, slightly better, each move up. Metrowon
gometros Posted August 18, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2009 For good pictures of the navigator veranda on the Magic and Wonder check out http://www.castawayclub.com/nverand.htm The one other nice thing about the Navigator's Veranda is if price is an issue, you can get a veranda at a much reduced price as compared to a regular veranda. And don't the let the rear of the ship scare you away, it isn't all that bad motion-wise. We've done both and couldn't tell the difference. You feel more motion toward the bow.
