Interntional Crafter's Market?

I found a walking tour of Belize City and saw that there is a crafter's market one block from the cruise area. Anyone wonder over there and is it worth it? We are not timid people and don't have a problem seeing poverty but do want to be cautious in a foreign port. Any problem with pickpockets or robberies? We would like to spend our money in the town and not have the cruise lines take a cut of it.

Any information would be highly appreciated!

Not sure where the crafters market is but we did walk in the area, and I can tell you my hubby wasn't very comfortable. We went out the back area, took a left, went over a canal to the corner and took a left down a block or two to a fabric store. We walked back and got a cabby to take us on a quick tour of the area, when we came around to the area where we walked, he stopped the van, came around re-shut my door and locked it along with my hubby's and did not stop again until we returned to where we were picked up.

When we went to the right of the pier area, there was an area that had all kinds of vendors in a small park area, we felt comfortable there and they were individuals selling there wares. bought a few things from them, and continued to walk back to the Pier. Good Luck.
