Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. How many shares of stock do you need to take advantage of the On-Board Credit?
  2. On the subject of being served drinks, on my two week cruise this June, my wife and I were in a suite for the first time. Thus, our tips and were already paid for. However, on the last full day of the cruise, I went around tipping all of my bartenders, servers, stateroom attendant, etc., as if our tips were not already paid for. Apparently, all of these people knew that I was giving double tips, because, on that last day, I never, ever had to wait for a drink. I wouldn't be finished with the one that I was drinking and a fresh one would already be there waiting for me without me even having asked for it. I would be walking from one part of the ship to another, and suddenly there would be a drink in my hand, handed to me by a passing bartender or server without me asking for it; it was freaky and awesome. I spent most of the day fairly drunk (luckily I can really hold my liquor), and I had a great time.
  3. They simply charged us the $20 per bag rate every time, not by item. I don't know if they were just being nice or what, but we must have used the service five or six times.
  4. That is what my wife and I did on our two week cruise earlier this year. We were in London for four days before the cruise. Once we were on the ship, we had laundry that needed to be done. We sent out laundry about every other day in the little bags. We were in a Sky Suite, so they didn't charge us much and it was all good. 🙂
  5. You do you. I am cool with that. And I will do myself. 🙂 I am drunk, what were we talking about?
  6. My wife and I were in a sky suite on a cruise last month. We had not used our butler at all. Halfway through the cruise, he asked us if there was anything that he could do for us. I said that a bottle of champagne every once in awhile would be nice. After that, there was a bottle of champagne in our cabin waiting for us every other night. One night, when we didn't have a bottle, we ordered one. We were never charged for any of the champagne. Is this because it is included with the suite? Is it because it is included with the premium package? Or was our butler just being nice (even though it was somebody else who delivered the bottle of champagne that one night? Thanks in advance for the information. 🙂
  7. My wife we and I are on The Silhouette Ireland and Iceland cruise out of Southampton. So far, Celebrity has been amazing. The service, the friendliness, the amenities and the food have all been great (except Le Petit Chef, I didn't like the food there). I am looking forward to our next sailing in 2024.
  8. I checked on my already booked 2024 Singapore to Sydney cruise to see if this sale would save me money. I looked at an equivalent aft concierge cabin which I have booked. At the box, it said that the cabin was $2,300. I thought, hey, I might save some money. When it asked me to pay, however, it showed the cost at $3,300; $1,000 more per person. This made the booking with the discount out to be even more than my current booking. I understand the bait and switch, but they should fix the price amount on the initial screen so that it doesn't hit you in the face at the end.
  9. Cabin 1075. It is the cabin that my wife and I took on that ship for our honeymoon. It has a very deep balcony because it is on the hump (my wife has Lupus, so a deep balcony out of the sun was paramount). It is concierge class and it is a great cabin for placement and for the extra large balcony.
  10. When will Celebrity's 2024 European cruise schedule be released? I am looking to make some bookings for the 2024 European season. 🙂
  11. They need to have different cruises with different levels of Covid protocols. Level 1 (minimum level): No protocols; Covid is treated like a cold. You are only paid attention to if you go ask for help at the medical center. No required quarantine. No required masking. No testing to board. Full capacity on the ship (100%). Level 2: Current protocols. Required quarantine if tested positive. No required masking. Little contact tracing. Testing to board. Limited capacity on the ship (75%). Level 3 (maximum level): Masks required at all times while inside except while eating or drinking. Testing to board. Testing once a week on the ship. Robust contact tracing. Very limited capacity on the ship (50%). Designate certain ships/cruises at the various levels and let the market decide. Some people will pay more for the Level 3, some people, like myself, would prefer Level 1. Others will go with Level 2. You could do at least one ship of each class for each level of Covid protocols and let the people choose their level of comfort/risk. 🙂
  12. Woof! That is a very, very old reference. 🙂 "He'll be riding round the streets of Boston...." 🙂
  13. Nice dodge, but that is such a straw man argument. Since there is no way that anybody on these boards is in touch with 15% of the sick people on any of these cruises, your definition of qualified to report is unachievable. Thus, all that we have to go on is the anecdotal evidence of first hand experiences which have been reported on these boards. Has anybody posting here received great service? Anybody? If it wasn't a problem, then you figure that we would have had at least a few people reporting on how good their Covid medical treatment was on board. Just because you put up a straw man argument does not mean that the problem does not exist. Based on what evidence we do have, it indeed looks like a problem.
