  1. We once had a horrible disembarkment due to a lack of customs officials, the MCT seemed to struggle a bit on Sundays. Since we couldn’t get off, new passengers couldn’t get on, it was a SS (those escalators are. I trolled by the port authority). We got off at 10:45, we were in the first walk off group, lined up since 7 am.
  2. We make last minute reservations, grab a (free) drink, go to a MDR for lunch, explore the ship. I guess we could sit a few extra hours in our living room before out 30 minute drive.
  3. I’d suggest a RCCL ship with a splash pad for diapered kids, and a paid nursery.
  4. You should be fine, they haven’t been taking reservations for that long. You will probably park at pier 90 due to fleet week. I personally have never heard of the lots filling up.
  5. I’m sure haven personnel have enough to do on turnover day than hand out water (and I’m pretty sure you can get water at the MCT, but there aren’t enough chairs for all on the big ships).
  6. I agree, we usually get a 9 am check in time and board close to noon.
  7. Sandals used to offer day passes, RIU was fine, but definitely not top shelf. There will be cabs lined up at the port.
  8. I doubt they would, many families do this when the need to book multiple cabins.
  9. I’d definitely go this route vs. renting a car, you don’t want or need a car in Boston. Parking isn’t fun.
  10. I don’t think you are going to find a hotel with included parking in Boston (just paid $75 a week ago).
  11. Exactly. We cruise out of manhattan, I’m sure the ny/nj port authority chose how they run their business. Sind the vast majority of cruisers have never even heard of CC, it’s not like they are aware what terminals are sticklers for check in times.
  12. We did a day pass at RIU, but it was the same beach as the public one. We actually just walked to the front of the resort and got in a taxi (and we are a family of 7), but I’m guessing anyone could walk up and ask about a shared ride.
  13. I think it’s hit or miss. We’ve sailed out of nyc 4 times, there was never a porter on the parking deck level, we usually arrived close to 9 - 9:30. I think just depends if a porter happened to be there dropping off luggage. This was before reservations.
  14. I regretted not bringing our snorkeling gear to RIU on cabbage beach, the water was so clear (there is a public walkway to the beach).
