  1. We enjoy luminae meals. However we also take a package and do three (or more) dinners in Specialty restaurants. We have done move up's from Sky suites to Royal Suites or Celebrity suites, but ships are running full lately and we must sail prime times- so doubt we will luck out again. But as long as we have access to suite perks, I am happy in a sky suite!
  2. I don't think I have a shell fish allergy, maybe I now do- but got sick after dining at the Hibachi- Too much potential in Izumi and the Hibachi with cross contamination- carry an epipen also! That is one reason why I also hate buffets. People don't always practice good hygiene and eat food with their fingers on the buffet line then use the utensil to get more food. Yuk
  3. Great choices! Since we started sailing in suites, we haven't been back to balcony cabins. We love the suite lounge and Coastal kitchen and on the E class ships the suite deck. We aren't wealthy but are getting on in years. Our children are all married with families of their own and it is their responsibility to provide for their families. We a spending their inheritance one cruise at a time!
  4. I also limit going in these pools or hot tubs. Typically I used to get Urinary tract infections after a cruise- from hot tubs and pools. We were on the Icon in March in a surfside family suite, not for us- it is a disney ship on Steriods. With small suites and cabins. We love Oasis class ships and will stick to them.
  5. We are diamond plus and sail on multiple royal ships and this was the first time , and ship we paid additional
  6. I am sure you will love it! Hope that you are in a sky suite or above. The perks are wonderful! Enjoy your cruise.
  7. We had an upcharge in the Hibachi on the Icon- It was a total surprise as we never had an upcharge before at the Hibachi. Unfortunately I had grilled seafood which made me sick! I wouldn't recommend it.
  8. Best to stay in the Adult only area- However with Senior Citizens, who knows what is in the water!
  9. As long as your clothes aren't smelly- wear a couple of times- or use ship laundry and or drycleaning service. I had previously mentioned in another thread that we were near a man in an escape room who had a horrific smell- like he just went to the bathroom and forgot to wipe! So just be sure you clothes don't stink! They may look clean- but some fabrics retain body odor.
  10. Wow- sounds like the Adventure of the seas! It was terrible. Worst Royal ship we have ever been on.
  11. Having walked a few times a day from our suite at the aft, to the foward part of the ship, I did more steps on my application then ever on the icon
  12. We love the lawn club grill for dinner. Our favorite Reflection and Silhouette restaurant. Great freshly prepared food as you like it. The lamb chops are wonderful as is the Filet mignon
  13. While the Icon of the Seas was a remarkable ship, perfect for young families, as a Senior, I found it too big. We were in a suite- but it was smaller then the Oasis class suites, with less storage space. I prefer the Oasis class ships. They have many of the bells and whistles and choice, it isn't as huge as the Icon ships. We do not like the small ships. Less choice- and some need serious renovations. Perhaps they will be sold. Let's face it- as time marches by, many more young families will be sailing and the industry has to prepare for them.
