Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No clear your cookies and sometimes you need to be in incognito mode for it to work.
  2. I do know that X offers a Move Up program. Once the dust settles from people moving up and if there is a higher category than what I booked, any likelihood the so called upgrade fairy might pay a visit? I think I read somewhere industrywide across all lines the upgrade fairy has had her wings clipped and it doesn't visit nearly as often.
  3. Has anyone used the pre/post hotels by Celebrity? Do they include transfer from airport to hotel and then hotel to ship and visa versa? The downside to me is the pricing. Having majored in and worked for many years in hotels, they charge the same price for one or two people, not per person unless you go over the double occupancy. With hotels through Celebrity they charge what would normally be the double occupancy rate per person, meaning you are paying anywhere from two time to four times the normal hotel price. If I were in a very exotic locale and depending on options, I would do my homework and reconsider, but mostly it is a hard sell for me.
  4. During the day time nice jeans. Evenings I did slacks and button up shirt for evening chic and very nice jeans (no holes, frays, tears, and fades) and polo for the rest of the nights and fit in fine. Give us more details, dates, ship, itinerary.
  5. I think it may be a backend issue. As it gets closer and they have a better idea, they will add. Some of the MDR on my cruise was showing menus and now they seem to show drinks only.
  6. It is always hard to compare two cruise lines overall. What works for one does not work for the other. Example, DH loves RCCL, I prefer a smaller ship and don't need all the slides, go karts, etc. I love the Schooner Bar in the original nautical format. They newer ships they have it but isn't as heavily themed as in the past. We both love the service on HAL and X and others find HAL too old for them and too sedate. I have seen travel videos about X saying not a lot of activities. I did not find that to be true on the Solstice. I hate schedules that are so jam packed with everything that peaks an interest and you find yourself running all over the ship to do everything. I cruise to relax and it is nice to have a much lighter schedule to allow that. I was pleased to see on Solstice Sept 22 no napkin folding classes. Who entertains that way and who has napkins that stiff? LOL.
  7. DH and I enjoyed doing a couples pedi on the Solstice. It was wonderful as we watched the ocean go by. I should note here so we don't get 500 comment, the spa does not offer a couples pedi, we just arrange for each of us to have a pedi at the same time with two nail techs. I went on X's website and did the 360 tour of the spa and looks like the nail room has work stations along the windows preventing you from seeing the ocean while having your tootsies worked on. Is that correct? As far as massages, do any of the treatment rooms face the ocean or are they all interior rooms?
  8. I found this on X's website. Deciphering the link it looks like accurate as of 18 April 2024: Doesn't show what brands are included just up to what price.
  9. We are on the same cruise. Anyhoo, we did the same route in September 2022 and I was amazed at the kids in the pool. I was freezing just watching them. Remember, they are younger and their tolerance level is better than ours as we age, 57 when I took that cruise. The indoor pool or solarium is for adults only, I don't remember if that starts at 16 or 18. If memory serves they do have a family hour generally very late afternoon while most people are getting ready for dinner. If the weather turns and is very wet, windy, and cold, they may open the solarium up to all passengers. Now to your app question: I've been having the same issue. When I went in September long before now I was able to view the schedule and plot and plan to my hearts desire. What I think may be happening is that was at the end of the season. We are the second week of this season. In fact our ship is somewhere between Hawai'i and Vancouver before it does a Vancouver to Alaska to Seattle run and then the first week of our itinerary. I bet the week of 19 May we will be able to access it once they know what they will offer on our cruise. In fact right now if you look at the hours for Cosmopolitan MDR it gives hours for an 11 night cruise.
  10. We did Alaska inside passage Dawes Glacier Sept 2022 and we spent very little time on the balcony or outdoor decks. It was too cold and wet. There was a sea day that we went from the Oceanview Cafe to the sky observation lounge and had to drop two decks down cross to the other end and take the lifts up. It was just too cold and wet to cross outside. As other's pointed out, just wait and book. I would not do the package that is everyday for the same reason and then you feel compelled to spend every waking moment there to get your money's worth.
  11. We leave in 23 days and still no schedule on the app for Dawes Glacier. When we did this route Sept 2022 we were able to fully access and plan activities long before this. I know that was a fact because I was driving DH up the wall plotting. Anyone else on this cruise able to access the schedule yet?
  12. Our cruise on X we went every night. This time in 24 days, not that I am counting, we will go the first one or two evenings and then on our own. They had our meetup at 5 PM we would rush to the MDR around 6 to get finished in time for the evening shows. That group would get together for an hour.
  13. Mainline cruises are getting more and more LGBT friendly. HAL had a meet up a couple times on a 7 night, Celebrity in 2022 had a nightly meetup. Mind you these meetups were in the schedule but not hosted by the cruise line. DH and I have not had a problem getting a two top, which was a giveaway to everyone else we were a couple, we would get traditional couple poses in the photos, beds together and no one batted an eye. On Celebrity they had an LGBT night in one of the bars. A few of us attended just before it started and left. It was for a younger crowd than we were, music wise and volume wise.
