carabou1 Posted September 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2004 I am new to this board. What is the SOE Program. We are sailing the Zuid in October and wondering if this will affect our sailing, whatever it is. Thank you for your help.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2004 SOE program Signature of Excellence. HAL is putting new mattresses, pillows, sheets, towels, robes, and duvets in all the cabins on all ships. HAL started doing this just this past spring. The penthouse and suite cabins were the first to get the new items. And as the months go by, all cabins will have everything. The program is suppose to be completed sometime in 2006. tomc Posted September 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2004 Not to be confused with FOD, FoBW or KMA.
elmorejj Posted September 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2004 OK tom, you`ll have to explain this one! KK, duvets aren`t going to be in all cabins...jean
Esme Posted September 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2004 I believe KK is wrong. Received this from Head of Housekeeping at HAL "The Duvets are only in Suites, fleetwide, except for the Prinsendam which has them in every room."
sail7seas Posted September 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2004 That is correct. The duvets are only in the Suites and Penthouses. They are very nice though. :)

Esme Posted September 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2004 gliles - thanks for bringing this to my attention - found it on HAL's web site. I have written to the Head Housekeeper and asked if the web site is correct or if it's a mistake. I was only posting what he had told me. Will let you know when I found out which is right.
gliles Posted September 12, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2004 esme - You are right though, the duvets are only in suites. Heck, as long as I have a bed to sleep in, I don't care!
Esme Posted September 12, 2004 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2004 esme - You are right though, the duvets are only in suites. Heck, as long as I have a bed to sleep in, I don't care! That's exactly how I feel - just give me a bed and a pillow and I'm happy! Who needs a duvet in the Caribbean anyway. As it is we keep the room very cold and usually only need the sheet and one blanket. We're hearty Canadians, used to the cold :D Just came out of the pool and it was only 72F - chilly but refreshing. :p
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 12, 2004 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2004 Duvets - Personally - we didn't like them on our Maasdam cruise this past May - Canada/New England - way too hot for us.
tomc Posted September 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted September 13, 2004 elmorejj -- Jean: Sorry for the delay in posting. Day job got in the way. FOD = Friends of Dorothy. I know many of her friends, but I don't vote in that primary. FoBW = Friends of Bill W. Gosh, but that guy has friends on every ship. KMA = Kiss it. In my edit tag: CYE = Check your e-mail. I've seen this a lot over on C@. Not sure if it's used elsewhere. CYA = "Quick; think of a good excuse."
