Sargent_Schultz Posted April 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2012 It would appear so. This happened with us last month when there was a medical issue about the time we cast off. If so, the ship does whatever the USGC instructs it to do.
CENTEX CRUISER Posted April 22, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Now I see on Galveston cam that there was a medical emergency. Must be serious. Makes me feel so bad for those involved.

happy cruzin Posted April 22, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2012 I would think dispatching the Coast Guard would be much quicker ? Not all medical issues are "urgent". When it happend to us in December - it was a younger passenger who injured a leg "horsing around" in Camp Carnival. We were instruted to return to Galveston and the patient was "handed off" to medics at the pier. The transfer was very quick and to the point - we were only there a few minutes. DH and I laughed that we barely even stopped !!
