pepere Posted February 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2007  Is it acceptable to wear shorts and T shirt the first night out. Luggage could be delayed and not delivered in time for dinner.
cruzobsessed Posted February 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2007 the 1st night is the only night you can get away with that in the dining room. now if you eat in the windjammer (like i do) you can do that everynight:D
Tasha999 Posted February 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2007 Often the luggage isn't delivered in time for dinner, compounded by the time they have the emergency lifejacket drill. You can wear what you want to dinner the first night.

lkb125 Posted February 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I don't recall ever seeing shorts and a tee shirt in the dining room. Lorelle
Sue L Posted February 2, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I pack another top and pants in my carryon for the first night. Frankly in the southern climates I don't want to wear to dinner what I have been hanging out in all day. Plus if I have shorts on during the day I find the dining rooms to cool for them. EggDropErin Posted February 2, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I agree with the OPs. The first night is very casual.
comxkid Posted February 2, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2007  Is it acceptable to wear shorts and T shirt the first night out. Luggage could be delayed and not delivered in time for dinner. Yes. I've done it and had plenty of company each time. The first day is very hectic so the environment in the dining room is very casual.
cb at sea Posted February 2, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I actually wore shorts the 1st evening--our bags didn't arrive until 10pm!!!! (we boarded at 11am--go figure! We'd never had our bags arrive THAT late before!)
tracey980 Posted February 2, 2007 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2007 Yes, it is acceptable to be more casual on the first night, but a lot of people will dress up. We didn't get dressed for dinner the first night on the Serenade and were surprised to see how many people did.
runner15km Posted February 2, 2007 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2007 If your luggage does not arrive then its OK to wear shorts. What I don't understand is when gentlemen were their baseball caps throughout dinner. If I did that, my momma would box my ears.:D
Knights on the Beach Posted February 2, 2007 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2007 The first night is definitely the most casual. On the Enchantment, there was a gentleman at our table who wore shorts to dinner one other night as well. We almost always have late seating, so we've always gotten our luggage in time to change for dinner. A lot of people bring a change of clothes in their carry on, but we've never had to worry about it.
rmcg1975 Posted February 2, 2007 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2007 If I have my luggage I get showered and dressed for dinner.. if I don't I go with whatever I have on..but usually we are so tired from travel we do Windjammer the first night or room service. fpcruiser Posted February 2, 2007 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I don't even pack a separate outfit for dinner the first night. I just plan on wearing what I have on. I have never felt out of place with what I have on(shorts and shirt).
