rfkeith10 Posted January 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I thought I read somewhere that private transportation providers (not taxis) could not drop you off at the terminal. Instead they are required to let you off at the port entrance and you have to walk the rest of the way to the terminal. I suspect I was I dreaming (or something). Can anyone provide some clarification? Thanks

Can anyone provide some clarification? Thanks We did not have Barcelona Day Tours drop us off at the port, but did have them pick us up at the end of the cruise and take us to the airport. We used a taxi on both of our cruises from Barcelona to get to the ship. I cannot definitively answer your question, but doubt if that is true. Of course, we were told that in Istanbul, but our private transport still drooped us off at the port.

Nonetheless, we have decided to take a taxi to the port.

Can anyone provide some clarification? Thanks The effects of the Spanish national ban on UBER and similar services through a court order in December on the cruise terminal traffic in Barcelona are currently not formally known. The region of Barcelona are currently re-writing laws on transportation and this process is not finalized to my knowledge. I noticed a poster on the Royal Caribbean board had said she was told her tour company could no longer enter the port area for this cruise season when she was making a booking and was told to take the T3 shuttle to meet her guide, who would be waiting in that area. I have not experienced this first hand and hope information starts to flow in about any changes in passengers experiences. This is the result of major protests by the taxi drivers, that are heavily regulated and they do not want private drivers allowed in areas where they have paid a fee to be authorized to wait. Steven_the_Captain Posted February 17, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2015 Private transportation companies with regular licence can enter within port area for pickup and dropoff, as I can know.. Uber is another case; they are not companies with regular licence for people transportation, they are private people with a regular driver licence that not permit people transportation for commercial use; so it's normal they are not entitled to enter in airport / port areas destinated to public or regulated services. Talking about Uber, they don't have an insurance policy that cover third parties issues in case of commercial use, so I do not thinks it is a great idea to save a couple of bucks assuming that risk. There are a lot of options: private transfers companies, rank taxis and also taxis with online reservation; In Barcelona I used 3 or 4 times booktaxibcn , new cars, polite and english speaking drivers
Bracarense Posted February 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Hi. Does anyone here know about tour operators that might provide a tour from port that would end in the airport. We have a flight leaving at 6PM and we arrive in port around 9AM... too long!!!
dlafoot1 Posted February 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Barcelona Day Tours. They will pick you up at the port, give you a half day or 8 hr tour, then drop you off at the airport. I am booked for an all day tour then a drop-off at my hotel as I don't leave until the next day. They receive excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Have fun!!
