Inverness on a Sunday

Our Princess cruise calls in Invergordon on Sunday, May 17 from 7 am - 6pm. We are considering a Princess shore excursion that involves only transport to Iverness for time on our own. If we chose to do this, would we find most shops, restaurants/pubs, and attractions closed?

Shops will all be open after about 11am on a Sunday, for museums etc you would need to check individual opening times. Pubs certainly open from lunchtime, many earlier. Smaller shops and cafes may be closed or have shorter opening hours.

This is a personal opinion but I wouldn't want to be dropped off in Inverness on a Sunday. Inverness isn't really the most interesting of towns but there is lovely scenery around so I'd definitely recommend taking a tour.

The shops will be open from 11am/12pm and cafes etc but there arent really any museums to see in Inverness. I would suggest you either do a tour with Princess or do one of the Jaocbite cruises tours that leave from the bus station in Inverness. you can do a cruise on the Loch, see Urqhuart Castle and The Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition all in one day :)

The Passion and Sensation tours depart Inverness Bus station and leave at 10.15am.

Passion is a 6.5 hr tour hrs and includes a 1.5 hr cruise on the Loch and a 2 hr visit to Urqhuart castle, a visit to Corimony Cairn, a visit to The Loch Ness plus a tour by bus it costs £44pp

Sensation is 3.5hrs and includes a one hour cruise on the Loch, a one hour visit to Urqhuart castle and an hour at the Loch Ness Centre and is £33pp
