We will be visiting La spezia in 3 weeks on Anthem of the seas,

(I understand the port now has a new dock and hence no need to tender)

How long does it take to walk from the port to the train station?

does the port put on a shuttle to the town?

or are their buses from the port to the station?

Thanks

We were there November of 2013. Celebrity had a shuttle from ship to tourist info building which was on the waterfront. The walk to the train station from there was about 20 min depending on how fast you walk. Can't recall about busses to train station. The walk is through a mostly pedestrian area once you turn off the waterfront

We visited La Spezia on Allure of the Seas this month, and yes, it docked. There is a required free port shuttle to the port terminal at the port entrance. We visited Cinque Terre and elected to walk two blocks from the port entrance to the bus stop then transfer onto the train. When we returned we paid the set fee of 15 Euros for a taxi from La Spezia train station to the port entrance.

Everything was very efficient. There was a very helpful staff of two locals at a desk providing tourist information inside the port terminal.

Are there taxis waiting at the port to go to the train and at the train to go back to the port? Is it best to reserve a taxi and is there a website or email for this? Our ship is docked till very late. My concern is that we get off the train after dinner time and there are no cabs back to the port! A 20 minute walk may be difficult for us.

I recall seeing taxis at the port when we left there in the morning and lots of them when we returned. We did not have to wait for a taxi at the train station at approx. 3pm. If you are able to book your return taxi online that might give you peace of mind, but I don't know if this can be done. Google might be able to assist you.

Thank you for sharing. The last time we visited was from Livorno and it was a lot more involved, so it is good to know that it is so easy from La Spezia.
