salerno ferry to capri

We are docking at Mole 3 Gennaio-Berth No 8-9-10 in Salerno. How do we get from there to the ferry to Capri? Our understanding is that the ferry leaves from Molo Manfredi. Is that correct. We do not have much time as we need to catch the 8.40am ferry. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ferries depart from two different locations in Salerno; the majority use Piazza Concordia but there are a few that depart from Molo Manfredi, which is at the cruise port. Your docking location is one pier to the west of Molo Manfredi.

I'll warn you that this map on the port web site is confusing because the blue area is land and the white is water, but at least you can see where you'll be relative to the ferry port: http://www.porto.salerno.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3&Itemid=5 (give the link a second once it loads, the picture becomes the map)

It's about a half mile walk from the Gennaio pier to Manfredi, so for most people about 10 - 15 minutes.

The service from Molo Manfredi is Gescab/NLG. Here are their web sites:

Thank you so much for the excellent information. Can you please help with one or two queries. The ferry schedule you sent is for 8.20am to Capri. On the fast ferry site I was looking at there was also an 8.40am fast ferry to Capri. Do you know if this still operates or does it leave from a different port. Also, can we walk from our ship to Molo Manfredi. I heard that you are not allowed to walk in the port area. How would we get there? If we take a city shuttle bus where do we get off?

Hi, very helpful map! Do you know if cabs show up at the area where Celebrity will dock? I'd like to take a cab to Piazza Concordia & from there take the ferry to visit Positano & maybe one other town... I would normally just take a bus to the ferry dock if available, but I'm getting the feeling that this is an industrial type port like livorno where just exiting the port itself is a problem, or am I wrong? Would we be able to easily walk to a bus stop that would take us to Piazza Concordia?

Thanks in advance for any info you may have. :)

Edit to add: Do I even need to go to Piazza Concordia to get a ferry to Positano? A big priority would be that it's not the super fast boat that requires you to sit in inside, being able to stand or sit on an outside deck is my main priority. thanks!

I don't know about the taxis but my guess is that you'd have to walk to Molo Manfredi to find one.

As for the boats, if you look at the pictures of the fleet on the Alicost web site they all appear to have outdoor seating. Alicost departs from Molo Manfredi for Amalfi and Positano: http://www.alicost.it/?page_id=2&lang=en

Not all lines will run through the end of October but some will.

Alilauro runs through the end of the month and I believe Alicost does as well but you can email them through their web site to confirm.

This isn't something you're going to be able to nail down before arrival, you can put together a plan but be ready with a fall back option because weather and other things can throw a wrench into the works.
