Does anybody know if you can access El Morro from the Paseo yet? Maybe 6 months ago, I heard the path would extend around El Morro and you could walk to San Cristobal too. If so, is LaPerla cleaned up enough to make this safe for tourists?

We will be in Old San Juan soon and would love to take this walk as the sun sets!

Also, any word on LaBonbonera re-opening? A girl can hope, right?

Thanks for the updates

Have heard this is as good as the old LaBomanara. Last time we were at La Bombanara, it had lost some of it's charm. (no idea how it was spelt)

La Mallorca is on Facebook look it up or google it.

Can't wait to have breakfast here in December!

We have been to Cafe Mallorca twice and have really enjoyed it! We have also bought coffee and mallorcas in the Plaza De Armas in the little kiosk there...very yummy! But we really wanted to go to LaBonbonera.

Bummer that the path is not done yet. This is from the National Park website:

Walk thru the Paseo del Morro

The Paseo del Morro trail follows masonry walls, dating back to the 1630s, that surround the city of Old San Juan. The Paseo del Morro once served as a maintenance road for the west section of the city walls. In 2001 it was designated as a National Recreation Trail. The trail skirts the city wall from the San Juan Gate to Castillo San Felipe del Morro along the entrance to the San Juan Bay. Views across the bay, breezes from the Atlantic Ocean and views from the bottom of massive stone walls help to provide a historical experience unlike any other. Future plans include an entrance to the Paseo del Morro from Castillo San Felipe del Morro and a continuous trail to Castillo San Cristóbal as well.

I guess they did say it was the future plan..maybe not near future? We will just have to go back again!!
