Several tours to choose from. We stayed in Bayahibe at the Dreams La Romana resort and enjoyed a day on the water on a gorgeous cat, the Quetzal. But what you may want to check out is a tour that takes you up the River Chavon where several movies were shot, and you can visit Altos de Chavon, and see beautiful Casa De Campo. Beautiful areas that should not be missed, and you don't have to go through the ship as there are excellent private outfits at your disposal offering many different land and water options.

For example, Pro Excursions, Seavis and other great outfits also offer off road buggy and river boat excursions that are not only fun but interesting because you have a chance to enjoy a real local experience away from the typical touristy areas.

Just search using these destination terms and you'll find more details and can see if one of these interest you. But the area is lush and beautiful, hope you can enjoy your time there!
