Just for my son (5) and my wife and I. We have read a lot of reviews both seem like excellent options. Just finalizing our plans since we leave in just a few weeks and still are unsure which one.

5 is probably too small to enjoy the water toys, pier, etc. at the Boatyard. Bring a bucket & shovel and he will be happy - go with whichever is cheaper, better facilities, cabs, etc.

Brown's Beach, Boatyard, Carlisle Bay, Harbour Lights all basically share the same stretch of beach. The difference being that Brownes Beach is frequented by the locals and there is no establishment on the beach front offering chairs/umbrella rentals or water toys.

Like John said your 5 yr old will have just as good a time with his bucket and shovel and you don't have to pay an entrance fee:).

Right next to the Boatyard is Lobster alive and the Harbour Lights, both on the same beach.

Lobsters alive has no admission fee and rents chairs and an umbrella for $15. Harbour Lights I'm not sure of.
