IAH to Galveston Port: Car Rental or Car Service?

For our group of 4 adults, the prices are nearly identical for renting a car or using a car service. For the car rental I included the price to park at the cruise terminal. Since price isn't a factor I want to choose the option that is more convenient. I'd like to hear your experiences. We are arriving at IAH at 10:30 pm and staying near the airport. Our cruise leaves the next day (Carnival Valor). On the return day our flight leaves from IAH at 1:05 pm.

We have done this twice and always used a car service. Worked great, they know the traffic patterns and how to get around trouble, which happened on the first trip and sold us on using them from now on.

The only concern I would have 4 people in a car is how much luggage you might have, unless you are renting a van. I too would go for the car service.

Which car service are you guys using normally from IAH to Galveston port?

I'm closely looking at a cruise on the Carnival Breeze from Galveston. I would probably arrive the day before and stay in hotel close to airport and then take a car service on the cruise morning.

In the past we have booked hotel for night before, stayed at hotel at airport then following morning took hotel shuttle back to airport and got cruise transfers but this was only for 2 people.

We are renting a car from IAH and coming in two days early so we can take the Tour at the NASA Space Center, then coming in the day of the cruise ( 30 min drive ) and leaving the car at the EZ lot and get shuttled over and pack.

We have used Elite Limo Service each time. They have been great. Would recommend them.
