Hi - 2questions - first - is there a place to just go and see a Hawaii review show - and not with the luau - (meal) just buy drinks. Any island will do. - and, where is the closest place to buy a few bottles of wine prior to embarkation at the pier for NCL - POA. Thanks.

There is a luau on Kauai that offers a "show only" option. The website also provides transportation options for POA cruise passengers. We have lived on Oahu and spend a lot of time on Kauai and Maui. Smith's Garden luau is in a beautiful tropical setting and is well done.

However, the "revue" or "show only" will give you only a partial view of the luau as a part of Hawaiian culture. The tradition of sharing food and celebrating with music is intertwined. A luau is a celebration feast - baby luaus, wedding luaus, and so on.

Another idea for you, for Hawaii specific music, is a slack key guitar concert. There are musicians and concerts throughout the islands. Perhaps a google search.

You can get wine at any ABC store. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Beachcomber in Waikiki. Don't know if this interests you - but it got great reviews:

The Magic of Polynesia Show

The Magic of Polynesia show is a phenomenal performance of spell-binding illusions, dramatic special effects, astonishing sleight-of-hand and professionally choreographed Polynesian entertainment created by Merlin Award-winning illusionist John Hirokawa. The show performs nightly at the Holiday Inn Resort Waikiki Beachcomber on the Oahu island.

If you see a luau location that you would like, call and see if they offer a cocktail and show only ticket. The Sheraton Maui offers this and it is a fantastic location on Kaanapali Beach.

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Waikiki has a cocktail and show offer for their luau.

On Waikiki beach the hotels like Moana Surfrider, Halekulani, and others offer Hawaiian entertainment while enjoying beverages.

If there is a shuttle to Walmart in Honolulu, they have good wine prices, as does the K'Mart. ABC stores are always a good source.

Have fun, Cherie
