Directions to Cape Liberty from Queens

Please give me the easiest directions to get to the port from Queens. We were going to go thru Staten Island, but now considering the tunnels. We don't like driving in Manhattan, but if we leave early maybe there will be no traffic. We used to take the Bayonne Bridge. BQE to Verrazano Bridge then to Route 440 to Bayonne Bridge. Any help would be appreciated.

Wouldn't it be easier to take the Holland tunnel to Jersey city, then NJ turnpike to 14A. Seems like many less miles and much less $$$. Also, watch the construction schedule for Bayonne Bridge closures.

Where are you coming from in Queens?
