lesliew Posted September 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2017 We are visiting Santa Marta in December on NCL. There are no NCL Excursions offered. It this a place where you can get off on your own and explore? Are there any suggestions on places to see? Or is it better to get a taxi or hire a tour? I can't find much information on this port. Wayfairers Posted September 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2017 Viator has some interesting tours there. I haven't checked tours by locals, but they will probably have tours too. Have you googled private tour guides? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Wayfairers Posted October 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Have you decided what you will do in December? Sent from my iPad using Forums
lesliew Posted October 17, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 17, 2017 We have decided against doing this port on our own. We booked a private tour through Vergel Tours.
Wayfairers Posted January 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2018 What did you end up seeing and doing while in Santa Marta? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Shawnino Posted January 12, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2018 We were on lesliew's cruise. We had a decent day out with The Day Trips, guide was good, and it was cheap (US $160 total for a full day)... ...but there's not much to see in Santa Marta. The guide was from Cartagena and he said we'd like Cartagena a whole lot better... he was right. The cathedral is OK. The Quinta where Bolivar spent his last days is more-than-OK if you are interested in Bolivar. Otherwise, erm... not much. The beach our fellow cruisers went to was good, they said, but there wre lots of cops out refusing to let people walk the trail to get to the beach... they said it was too dangerous to walk the trail, take a cab. Wayfairers Posted January 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Thanks Shawnino! We would like to take a hike in the mountains but don’t know if that is feasible. I’ve sent a message to Vergel Tours Sent from my iPad using Forums
Wayfairers Posted January 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2018 I’ve also talked to The Day Trips and I really like them. Glad to hear that you were happy with them. Sent from my iPad using Forums
