2013HockeyMom Posted January 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2013 If you fly into Rome and need to get to the Celebrity Silhouette cruise...how long does it take and how did you get there to the dock to board?
Rare Hlitner Posted January 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2013 This subject has been overly discussed in the Italian ports board. The drive from FCO to the port takes approximately 1 hour (give or take a few minutes). You have the usual options of paying Celebrity for transfers, grabbing a taxi (probably about 120 Euros) or arranging for a private transfer (you can do this online). It is also possible to use the trains (the cheapest option) but this involves changing trains in Rome and still leaves you with about 4 blocks between the Civitavecchia station and the main port entrance. Hank Taxi rates just went up. What was a e40 trip for DD was a e60 just the other day.
Rare Azulann Posted January 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2013 OP, I would sign up on your roll call for yu particular sailing. See the front page of CC. There you will find other folks who will be on your cruise. We found a couple to share a private transfer . We were on the same flight.
bbwex Posted January 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2013 I would second the comment about going to your cruise's roll call. We were in Rome for a few days before the cruise, but I put together a group of four couples to rent a van. I think the per couple charge ended up being in the vicinity of 35 euros. You will need to find some people on your flight, but you might find people arriving from other places at or about the same time, particularly if you are arriving that morning since most flights arrive in a reasonably narrow period of time. Note that luggage can take awhile at Rome!
