TravelScholar Posted August 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2015 I'm looking for a way to see the BIG planes land at Maho Beach (so it seems like I need to be there between 11am-2pm or so on most days) AND do a tour of the island where I can see some of the Dutch and French sides. I don't need to go to another beach apart from Maho, but would like to do some shopping and eating around the island. Is this possible? Most of the tours I can find 1) are ALL beaches (i.e., Orient and Maho, etc.) with no sightseeing, or 2) do not ENSURE you will be at Maho to see the big planes (so Bernards does not seem to be an option). Any thoughts on a tour that can accommodate what I'm looking for, or the best way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?
jjikids Posted September 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2015 Check out Benards tours. Great review on trip advisor.
t_car Posted September 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Check out Benards tours. Great review on trip advisor. The OP'S iis ruling out Bernards tours. Read his post. I would suggest a search on this forum, or engage a private taxi for a few hours and create your tour the way you want.
CruisinDawn Posted September 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) We went over to the Maho Taxi pickup. Our driver took us to Maho and asked when we wanted to be picked up. Upon pickup she was more then willing to take us anywhere else we wanted. :) We ate at Maho so had that out of the way but I am sure the majority of the drivers will do what ya need them to do. Also note you don't have to commit to the same driver. When we came out of the Sunset Grill MANY drivers offered their services but we had already committed to our delivery driver which showed back up right when we told her we would be ready. :D BonVoyage Dawna Edited September 9, 2015 by CruisinDawn
wrcjr98 Posted September 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2015 When I did Bernard's tour, we saw the big planes? Best tour we have ever had on a cruise - everyone still talks about it 2 1/2 years later!! Don't rule out Bernard!!
nat9511 Posted September 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Another vote for Bernards. I did their tour last year and am booked for another one this Oct.
firstprincesscruise Posted September 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Bernards for me too. Did his tour 3 years ago and saw the big planes coming in and am booked for this November for the same tour. The best tour out of any we have done. FRANKM Posted September 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Also vote for Bernard's tours. We used him in Aug. Our guide was Guillermo. Very good!! He has a list of plane schedules so he knows what time to get to Maho to see the big ones. BTW, don't have any more than one of his homemade Guavaberry punches. They are potent. TravelScholar Posted September 13, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Thank you for the replies, everyone. We ended up just taking a taxi from the port to Maho. We saw the big one land, then our taxi driver took us to Mullet Bay, Serafina's in Marigot, and then back to the port. It ended up being a great day. Cheers.
