Day trips to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof

Recommended Posts

Why not just rent a car? The roads are easy to drive, especially with a GPS, and you have ultimate flexibility on where and how. The only thing is generally the rental cars are standard transmission, but you can get an automatic for a bit more money. I would say border crossings are not a problem but the Austrian's are a bit finicky at times on entry. Just make sure you get an autobahn decal if the car rental company doesn't provide one if you are going to cross the borders.

We drove all over Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland last summer and had a great 16 day vacation. The castle is amazing, but then there is so much that is amazing in that portion of the world.
