QueenP Posted August 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2017 We will be in Rome for a weekend arriving after a whole day of travelling on a Saturday morning. We hop on our cruise out of Rome on Monday afternoon. We have been to Rome before, so know what we want to see this time that we didn't get to last time. We want to go to the forum, Trajans Market, the Capitoline Museums, and of course strolling around the area between the Pantheon and Spanish Steps. And of course do some shopping. Since the first Sunday of the month is free for some of those things, we want to avoid them! Also Mondays seem to be closed for many things. So can anyone help me plan the order that we should be doing things? Ideas gratefully accepted! QueenP Posted August 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Are these covered in the first Sunday of the month free day? Sent from my SM-J200Y using Forums mobile app
euro cruiser Posted August 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2017 They are free for some, but not all: Every first Sunday of the month free admission for residents in Rome and in the metropolitan city area. http://en.museicapitolini.org/informazioni_pratiche/biglietti_e_videoguide http://en.mercatiditraiano.it/informazioni_pratiche/biglietti_e_videoguide
Rare cruisemom42 Posted August 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2017 I've never seen Trajan's Market (accessed via the Museum of the Imperial Forums) very crowded at all. Or the Capitoline Museum. I think you'd be find doing either on the free Sunday (especially since it is only free to Romans, not everyone). The Forum is also open on Mondays. So you have plenty of choice between Sunday and Monday to do these three sites. If you plan on shopping, best to do it on Saturday afternoon (you can do your stroll around the Pantheon/Spanish Steps area, also Piazza Navona. Many shops are closed on Sundays and even Monday mornings -- although an increasing number are opening on Sundays these days; it seems Italians have discovered the joys of Sunday shopping.
