Beaches in George Town, Grand Cayman

Hello !

I am hoping someone can recommend a beach in George Town where there's either umbrellas or an area with shade still near the beach. Love the beach, but get sun poisoning very easily !

We went to Royal Palms in May and are going back again next month (love saying that!) I think its a $4 ride, you'll see lots of people offering rides. We rented a couple chairs and an umbrella for us to share. It wasn't too crowded and they have a great restaurant/bar.

We also loved the Royal Palms. Were there this week. I guess with an umbrella you would be ok? Almost all the beaches rent chairs and umbrellas.

Does the beach at Royal Palms get alot of people. I do not like beaches where you feel you a sitting on top of the person next to you. Is the water shallow or rocky?

The beach is much wider and nicer down toward the Westin. Even in high season, there's never a problem getting a spot on the beach. It's huge! We were just down at the Westin the other day and there were only a few people on the beach - we practically had it all to ourselves. Royal Palms gets pretty crowded because it's close to town, and it's narrow compared to other areas of the beach.

Do they rent Chairs at the Westin? Do you have to pay to use their beach or is it a public beach. Is there a place to eat and get something to drink. Do we just ask the cab driver to take us to the Westin.

You can take the bus...$2.50 pp to almost everywhere. They run ALL the time! Very easy!
