Glenock port for Glasgow

We will be sailing into Glenock. I am at loss as to what is worth seeing and doing in the area. The cruise ship tours seem very expensive and nothing is really exciting me.? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think that you were referring to Greenock? If you go to your roll call you will probably find postings from your ship mates who will be sailing with you. They may have openings available for independent tours to the surrounding areas and are willing to share the cost of the excursion with others. For instance there are typically tours to Sterling or Inverary Castles. Hope that helps!:)

A lot of folks from our RC are doing the Stirling, Loch Lomond and Tossachs tour with local operators. There is also the option of going to Edinburgh, though its about 2 hours away by road, need to check on train options. I read some where that there are some free tours available for Greenock, not sure if it was toursbylocals, you might want to Google it.

Thanks for the link for the local tour guides. We took the castle tour in Sept. 2013, and we loved it. The guides are all local, and it's obvious how much the love their city. Their enthusiasm makes the tours very special. We've already booked a tour for our trip this fall.

There's also a big shopping center within walking distance of the port. We got some lovely flowers for our cabin that stayed fresh all the back to the NYC on our TA trip.
