Help! What to do?

We were excited about coming to Belize but after reading some reviews, we are somewhat concerned about what excursion we should do. Here is info about our party:

Mid 40's

Non-drinkers

One who can't swim and is somewhat scared of water (I know, it's weird she doesn't mind taking a cruise)

Not interested in seeing the ruins

Traveling in July

I had initially thought Belize had beautiful beaches to enjoy for the day, but most posts seem to say otherwise. So, is it possible to have a white sand, clear water beach day? If so, which one and how to get there?

If not, can you recommend something to do that's not too expensive and safe?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

For you guys I'd consider a Tour of the Jungle / Horse Back riding in the Pine Savannah area. It's a very educational and adventurous excursion to do while in Port especially for people of your age. I did the Horse Back Riding privately with one of the local guys in port. His name is Waylon, Email is wtg_792@hotmail.com. You should definitely look into what he has to offer.

Look at the excursions offered by the ship to see if one of those would suit you.

Normally, there will be one to a barrier island that will have the type of beach you desire. Even if time at the beach includes snorkeling, that does NOT mean you have to snorkel and can just enjoy the beach the entire time instead. :)

Hi there, we just got back and we went ziplining and cave tubing with our family group ages 13 to 81. We used Zipline.bz and had a great time. We did the ziplining first (even the 81 year old) and loved it. We then did the cave tubing and you are safe on these tubes. You never have to be in water over mid thigh to get in and out of these tubes and for the most part, the water was never deeper then waste deep (our guides were with us at both ends of the train of tubes and never seemed to be deep in the water). There was an area where they let us get out and swim but only about 25% of our group got out, the others stayed in their tubes. It seemed very safe and was amazing. Our guides were great and one of the best things about this tour group is that you don't have to carry your tubes when you walk to the start of the tour. We saw several other groups with each person carrying a big tube on the 20 minute walk to the start of the tour. Our guides also stopped several times along our walk and during the tube ride to tell us about interesting things to look at and give us some history. Even the van ride (new and clean van with air conditioning) was filled with interesting bits of history and culture. We finished off the day with a meal (included in the price) at the family restaurant. Good experience!!
