masonpips Posted May 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Hi, we're departing Radiance on a Friday and taking our "checked luggage" to the train for our 6 pm train departure. Our plan is to take a taxi to Exit Glacier and do some hiking. We will have our "train carryon" luggage (backpack size) and don't want to haul ALL (there are 2 adults, 2 teens) of it with us, probably just one or two backpacks w/drinks and food. The other 2 items we'd like to leave somewhere Is there a day storage option in town? I read somewhere about a "shelf" in the train station. How secure is the area? We'd carry passports and meds/electronics with us but is there a locker storage somewhere? As we'll be on our own, using a tour operator place (which most people post as the solution) isn't an option. Thanks for any thoughts!
blueberry Posted August 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Did you ever get a reply? Did you complete the trip yet? I have the exact same question- what to do with carryons during exit glacier hike?
masonpips Posted August 7, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Hello! We ended up just hanging out in town that day but did check our luggage in at the station (under cover, it was raining) and dropped day bags in the office. When you pick up your tickets there is a large shelving unit in the same office and you can easily leave a day bag or anything you'd like to carry onto the train. We left 2 rolling backpacks and our son's regular backpack. Just picked them up later when we went back to board the train. No "claimcheck" or anything but I felt fine leaving basic items there and carrying our valuables/electronics with us!

Budget Queen Posted August 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2013 I haven't taken this train in 2 years, but I used this "shelf " service several times. Glad they are still offering this service.
