CruiserBruce Posted September 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2011 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Places to research and find stuff. First, I believe you are sailing on Carnival, correct? The Carnival board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 That board is packed with info about your cruise, your ship, and Carnival Cruise Lines. That is your best place for tips. If you aren't on Carnival, say so, and we will direct you to the appropriate board. Next up, the Caribbean Ports board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=587 Where you can learn what to see and do in each port. Lastly, your roll call, where you meet others on your cruise, and possibly arrange tours, rides and other activities. The Carnival roll calls are here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=150 Select your ship, then your sailing date. Good luck! thescot123 Posted September 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2011 leaving out of nola for a 7 day western carribean cruise on 10/16. any suggestions for a 1st timer. it's just my husband and i. we are mid 50's.thanks If you are cruising out on the 16th, my guess is you are on the NCL Spirit. Carnival cruises out the day before. I am cruising out on the 23rd a a week after you. I would suggest registering with Cruise Critic, it is free and will allow you to view and post to the Roll Call for your ship. Below is the roll call for the Oct 16th NCL cruise. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1359890 This is a great way of exchanging ideas and meet people at the onboard Meet & Greet. Fell free to ask me any questions as I have been on the Spirit two times before. Enjoy

firefly333 Posted September 16, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2011 Holiday Inn Superdome has a great rate that includes parking. Have to call and ask for it. I got $99 the last two times and they will shuttle you to the port (not back, they are not allowed to pick you up, port rules)
