Rare LHT28 Posted May 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2015 You could ask on the British Isles forum http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=233 Plan on at least 1 hr to clear the airport maybe longer then about 1-2 hr drive to the port depending on traffic

Never sailed out of Southampton. How long to get to port. If your flight is on time, yes. Sounds like you have a private car service in mind, if not - try checking out Smiths to the Airport on line. Excellent service we have used a couple of times. Even though possible, I would not recommend it. You state your boarding time, what time does the ship depart the port? Assume you are flying from the USA, flight delays are not uncommon. We always fly in a day in advance as a minimum. We have stayed at the Marriott at the airport at Heathrow... then get up rested and proceed to the port... drive is 1.45 - 2 hour drive.

John Bull Posted May 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Yes, you have plenty of time. 60-90mins but possibly longer to clear airport formalities (advise the transfer operator of your airline, flight number, day/date & scheduled arrival time, & airport terminal if you know it). Drive time is nominally 90 minutes, can be longer especially on a summer Saturday. The operator mentioned by pris is http://www.smithsforairports.com who are located at the Southampton end & are frequently recommended on CC. You also have options of travel by - bus http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx - or by bus+train http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ (much more expensive than the bus, includes switching from bus to train, no quicker than bus all the way) - or by ship's bus transfer By bus or train you'll need to get to your ship with a £5 to £10 taxi ride in Southampton JB :)
