Columbus weekend is traditionally considered peak.

I would go with the 12 th.

If you are planning for a Canada/New England cruise, I would suggest the cruise that would put you in Bar Harbor, Maine on or about 10/12; and IMHO, one of your ports of call has to be BH.

We went on the 5th and it was peak for colors...and many trees were losing leaves already! It was also getting really chilly as we moved up the coastline and by Gaspe we were all in winter coats with gloves and earmuffs!

Peak color in Quebec City, St. John, PEI will be earlier than peak in Bar Harbor and Boston. It is impossible to say with any certainty when will be peak each year as it varies by how hot the summer, how much rain and other variables.

Pick either date.... you have equal chance of seeing good color either further north or south (more likely south).

were sailing on 10-18 for a 13 day repo to ft. lauderdale, will there still be much to look at in regards to fall colors? :confused:

You are about a week late for what is traditionally thought of as peak for Boston. There are always a few that seem to be later so there should some color for you.

One never knows. In 2009, we did a repo cruise from Quebec to FLL and hit Boston on Halloween Day and that was the best day of the season that year. It was gorgeous.
