We arrive in Seward via train around 11:00 on a Wednesday and leaving on cruise Friday. What are some good things to do in Seward without a car and how do we get around? Not sure about the Kenai fjords as I am very prone to motion sickness. What places do you recommend for eating. We are staying at the Holiday Inn express.

Look thru the town web site, send for free visitor guide. http://www.seward.com

Read thru some trip reports to see what others have done and where they dined.

Lots to do in Seward .... Kenai Fjords day cruise, Exit Glacier, SeaLife Center, kayak, dog carting, fishing. Wander around the harbor and watch the charters come in with their catch. Follow the path from the harbor to downtown (about 1 mile) ... watch the fishing boats, great views across the Bay, otters playing off shore, bald eagles.

There's a $10 shuttle to Exit Glacier or if there are a few of you it might be cheaper to rent a car for the day (Hertz is it). Seward is very small; a taxi from your hotel to downtown will be about $6/$7. If a cruise ship is in town there's a free shuttle.

Another slant. You have a lot of time, I would have suggested you figure out your activities BEFORE you make reservations and spend days in a destination. Have you determined your priority isn't elsewhere? Anchorage can also offer plenty to see and do with easy day trips. A Prince William Sound boat tour, is far calmer, and may be of interest?

A significant reason to consider days in Seward is the extensive Harding Ice Field hike, and Kenai Fjords boat tours. You could have 3 days, to fill, for some Alaska is a highlight and greatly enjoyed. Determine how you wish to spend your overall time perhap.
