Is it Okay to Leave the Ship Overnight in Tokyo?

We will be on a HAL cruise next spring that overnights in Tokyo before continuing on. We would like to visit Tokyo Disney Sea, so we thought that instead of returning to the ship to sleep, we would stay overnight at a Disney hotel and then return to the ship the next day.

Can we do this? Are there any visa rules or cruise line rules that could cause us any problem?

Thanks very much for any help with this.

There is no problems for you to this, in fact on overnight port stops where the port is far from the main city, many, many people do this. You do not need to notify anyone. Just make sure you leave enough time to make the all aboard on the following day. You should be back AT LEAST 1 hour before all aboard time.

No problem at all. On our most recent HAL cruise to Japan, HAL offered more than one shore ex from Tokyo that stayed overnight ashore. We'd considered doing it ourselves but when our port changed from Yokohama to Tokyo itself, we didn't see the need. We'd planned on going to Tokyo Disney, but our arrival coincided with the beginning of Golden Week. We weren't up to dealing with the hoards at Tokyo Disney then (think Christmas at WDW ).
