miss_rach Posted May 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Planning our day on St Kitts and a few of the girls don't really like to snorkel but don't mind sitting on the beach under some shade or lounge chair and have some drinks and food, while we like to snorkel. We have nothing else planned as of yet and looking for a beach that has chairs/some shade food drink and can snorkel from the beach. Thanx for the help! paul58 Posted May 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2016 The beach on South Friar's Bay would fit your requirements of some shade, snorkeling, food and adult beverages. On the North end of the beach is Carambola Beach Club, it is an upscale beach restaurant & bar. On the South end of the beach is Shipwreck, a more laid back beach bar/restaurant. The beach is about 15 mn from the port area by taxi.
brookeq Posted May 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2016 We went to Mundo's on Cockelshell beach. A short walk (no more than a football field at most) took you to the end of Reggae beach which had snorkeling). They have food at Mundo's, Reggae, and if you walk the other direction there are more choices. Chairs with umbrellas were available at Mundos. It was 12 for 2 loungers and an umbrella. A cab ride was 7 per person each way. I have a review of our day in st. kitts. See the link for the carnival breeze in my signature

I would recommend going to Shipwreck Beach Bar at South Friars Beach- same beach as Carmabola but more of a rustic feel. The chairs are free, and the food is good. Right in front, you have a swimming area on your left, and a snorkeling area on your right where you have a natural reef. The only word of warning, it is on the part of the beach that is narrow and has black sand. There's sea urchins in the water, but as long as you are aware of them its a good day out. Shipwreck is right into the hillside, and the monkey's and mongoose come down and eat off the food scraps that are left out for them.
KysMommyRN Posted June 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Once at shipwreck or carmabola, how do you get a ride back to the cruise terminal?!? Are there taxis readily available? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
aquidneck1 Posted June 10, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2016 At Carambola, there is a nice reception area and they gather groups going back to the ships to share taxi's. It was absolutely not a problem.
