Gracefamily Posted November 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2011 We are planning a cruise end of Feb 2012. I have read about the fog problems. So would it be better to plan on flying out the day after the cruise or just late day/evening after cruise?
travel123456 Posted November 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2011 We booked our flight at 6pm out of Houston Hobby for a Galveston cruise....should be fine even with a delay (fingers crossed)
Camlott Posted November 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2011 Late day flight should be fine, unless its one of those REALLY bad fog delays. What airline are you using? We usually book a late flight out of Galveston and then try to get changed to an earlier flight once we make it to the airport (we only do this when we fly Southwest). May have to swing by Good Company BBQ and kill an hour or two between!!!! (I am assuming GC BBQ is still in business...it was a favorite when we lived there 15 years ago!!) (I am assuming GC BBQ is still in business...it was a favorite when we lived there 15 years ago!!) It's Goode Company (owner is Jim Goode). There's one on Kirby about 2 blocks south of 59 (Southwest Freeway) and another on the Katy Freeway (I 10) a few miles west of the West Loop (I 610). Happy to hear they are still in business....used to live in the inner loop and would frequent both their BBQ and the seafood...Yummmmm Getting hungry just thinking about it!!! We have family in Galveston, so missing our flight/postponing it will not be the end of the the world.

2-laner Posted November 11, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Is fog much of an issue when one is sailing out of New Orleans??
rvsullivan Posted November 11, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2011 Is fog much of an issue when one is sailing out of New Orleans?? New Orleans is a non issue. Two years ago, we left in fog so thick you couldn't see the bridge. Still cruised on down the Mississippi and finally lost the fog near the Gulf.
