pickler1 Posted March 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Would Carnival's travel insurance with "cancel for any reason" and get 75% cruise credit on another cruise cover you if you have car trouble on the way to the cruise terminal?
Rare GeezerCouple Posted March 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2015 You should check with Carnival AND read ALL OF THE FINE PRINT very carefully. (It won't matter what folks here on CruiseCritic told you if you have to file a claim.) There may well be a deadline to notify them of a CFAR "claim". Or that type of event might be covered by some other part of the policy, and it might require that you try your best to catch up with the cruise, rather than just not show up later. It all depends upon how the specific policy you have is written, including all the fine print in terms of deadlines, exclusions, or "how to deal with" certain situations. A lot of the complaints here about bad insurance experiences are because there was something about the policy that the traveler didn't quite realize, or an assumption that wasn't correct. S&G1968 Posted March 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Speak with Steve at TravelInsuranceStore.com I believe you are getting a Voucher rather than a refund. Plus you need to insurance other than canceling for any reason.... ~Steve

Steve at TripInsuranceStore.com (where we get our travel insurance) would be a great source of general information for the policies they sell, but I doubt he'd take responsibility for stating what another policy did or didn't cover. So, unless your driving to the port 3 or 4 days early ????

So, unless your driving to the port 3 or 4 days early ???? The contract doesn't say anything about 48 hours. It says up until departure. As long as you call Carnival before departure of the cruise. After much research, I've determined that most 3rd party policies have the 48 hour prior to departure disclaimer, while Carnivals does not appear to have this disclaimer. However, their disclaimer is this "To be eligible for credits, notification of cancellation must be given to Carnival Cruise Lines prior to the ship’s departure." So, you're broke down in the middle of nowhere, can't get the car fixed, going to miss the ship which sails at 4PM EST and it's now 2:30PM,,,, make the call, write down name of employee who took the call. Ensure you receive a cancellation reference number,,,, you should be good to go. Broke down in the middle of nowhere, no cell reception, car gets repaired with bailing wire, you drive to post, you get to port at 4:05, ship sails at 4PM, ,,, and you haven't called to cancel,,,,,,,, you will be denied claim coverage
