Try posting on Trip Advisor or join Yolisto. They might have some cigar smokers who can help you. I visit the market fairly frequently. Cigars are a luxury item, and I seldom see Mexican people smoking them.

Don't waste your money. Only 3rd run Cuban cigars are sent to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Buy them in Cuba. Easy to travel now and will get easier.

In Mexico, only buy at La Casa del Habana - the authorized dealer for SA Habanos. Counterfeits are rampant - and avoid any glass covered boxes

I bought "Cuban" cigars in Progreso last summer. I knew they were fake because my hubby buys real Cubans when we are in Athens. But they were good imitations and hubby says they were actually pretty good.
