stephy1 Posted May 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2004 who thinks the lotion and shampoo on Celebrity stinks, literally? The lotion is like bug spray and it's so tacky to have it mounted on the wall...does this bother anyone else or am I being too nit picky? Deb C. Posted May 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2004 cruising with marti: I think you are the only one that has mentioned the soap in this thread so far. The Zenith had the bar soap with oatmeal and it was okay. I carry my own brand with me all the time due to some allergic reactions.

NitaBcruising Posted May 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2004 The shampoo is not the quality that you'd buy for your own hair type from a salon. The lotion is too thin, not creamy enough. The soap is okay, I guess! Nita

TLCC Posted May 18, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Wow - Am I The Only One - who REALLY LIKES the Celebrity lotion?!! I love the coconut smell. In fact, they have free little bottles of the lotion in the ladies changing room in the spa and I take as many as possible and take them home to use. Brings back wonderful memories of my great Celebrity cruises when I smell that great coconut smell.

stephy1 Posted May 18, 2004 Author #16 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Well, I use the lotions that most hotels offer because it's decent stuff. My skin gets dry, especially if I've been in the salt water. It just strikes me as cheap to have it mounted on the wall in a dispenser and then it smells bad and is kind of sticky. The soap is fine.... sueclark Posted May 18, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 18, 2004 You might be comparing apples and oranges here. Remember the CC and suites get a different grade of toiletries. stephy1 Posted May 18, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Was the lotion dispenser mounted on the wall or did you get little bottles of it? I know the little bottles in the public bathrooms is much nicer than the stuff in the cabins. Silverfox Posted May 18, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 18, 2004 One of the reasons cruiselines went to the dispensers is because of people taking too many bottles home with them. Remember -- use what you can on the cruise, but it isn't meant to supply you at home! On some cruises they have stopped putting personal supplies in the Spa areas simply because they have been taken by passengers. I don't like the lotion in the dispensers -- I find it very sticky and icky. The shampoo is too drying for my hair, so I just bring my own. Kathleen P. Posted May 25, 2004 #23 Share Posted May 25, 2004 As a beauty porduct junkie, I know a lot about products. As a woman who has her hair colored and highlighted to the tune of $350+ a visit, I would never ever ever use a hotel provided shampoo. I don't even use the Bulgari products provided in Hotels. WHY???? The shampoo will strip all the color out of your hair and turn it brassy. It also does not provide any UV protection from the sun. Even 1 shampoo will remove color from your hair. I know I am not the only one who colors their hair...so be careful of what you use on processed hair. You don't have to spend a fortune on shampoo, just make sure its made for colored hair. I have no idea what those products are, so I will not use it. If you have sensitive skin, do not use the lotions either - what are they? Are they pertoleum based, glycerine based--is there urea in it? You don't know what you are putting on your skin and you could have a bad reaction to the fregrance or ingredients, espically if you put it on sunburned skin. I use the shampooo to rinse out my bathing suits, and the lotion is good for your feet in a pinch. Never on the body. The only things I use are the cotton balls and swabs. Rustynail Posted May 25, 2004 #24 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Soap? Shampoo? Forget that - I had our cabin steward fill up one container with Vodka and the other with mix. Nothing better then having a tropical drink at your disposal while getting ready for dinner.
