Jewel Alaska Seattle R/T Questions

Recommended Posts

I am looking forward to our September Alaska trip on the Jewel and have a few questions for those that have already done this itinerary this summer.

1. What are the show times?

2. What days were the shows? (Band on The Run, Le Cirque Bijou, and Pure Variety.)

3. What time did you enter, and arrive at Sawyer Glacier?

4. Is there anything to do within walking distance of the port in Victoria?

5. Was there a White Hot Party or anything like it?

Thanks for any information you can share.

(1) The shows are 7: 15 or 7:30 and 9:30 P. M.

(2) The night of each show can vary depending on the ship's schedule.

(3) It is not very far from Ketchikan to Sawyer Glacier, I would suspect that you would arrive around 4 P.M. and sail for a couple of hours in the Glacier waters at least. This past week, the Captain opened the bow area for passengers when they were in Sawyer Glacier. Will he do it again in September, my guess is that it will depend on the weather

(4) Yes, you can walk from where the ship docks into downtown Victoria, but it is a very long walk.

(5) Yes, there is a White Hot Party probably Thursday night beginning at about 10:00 P.M.

What cruise in September, will you be sailing? I will be sailing on the 9th of September sailing.

We are also sailing on September 9th. We are arriving in Seattle on the 3rd to see my brother. Then our friends sailing with us will arrive on the 7th.

I think you are on the small roll call.

Yes it is a very small Roll Call. I am the one that has been doing the weekly updates. I will do another in the morning.

Enjoy your time in Seattle. I love Seattle.

  • 3 weeks later...

We did this cruise a year ago

3. What time did you enter, and arrive at Sawyer Glacier?

The big ship got there around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

I took the small boat excursion that leaves from the port, spends extra time up close to the glacier, then reboards the ship. It was well worth it, we had an amazing view. I signed up two of us the day before so I don't think it sold out.

It was right before dinner when we reboarded the big ship, so probably about 5pm.

4. Is there anything to do within walking distance of the port in Victoria?

There were taxis and pedicabs and some touring buses right at the port. Its not a port you need to plan a lot for, if you want to leave that last evening open.
