Wine stores within walking distance of Fort Lauderdale's Hyatt Pier 66?

Hi everyone:

In a couple of weeks I will be staying one night, pre-cruise at the Fort Lauderdale Hyatt Pier 66 and was wondering if there is a place to purchase wine within a short walking distance of the hotel? I am a single female traveling alone, so I do not want to have to walk far, or after dark, alone in a strange place. I don't arrive until Saturday afternoon and realize I cannot purchase alcohol until after noon on Sundays.

Also, is the Pier 66 in a safe area, and do you think I'll like it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

We didn't find anything within walking distance of Pier 66, but the Sun Trolley stops right in front of the hotel and you can take it a couple of miles down the road to the Harbor Shops. There's a wonderful Total Wine store, as well as a Publix supermarket. The Sun Trolley dropped us right in front of Total Wine and picked us up in the same place.

Since you will be there on a weekend, you will be able to take the Sun Trolley, as there are no stores within a 'short' walking distance. You could also use the public transport system, the #40 bus. There is Crown Wine & Spirits and Total Wine in the vicinity. Both places will deliver to your hotel, on orders of $200 or more. They will also put an order together for pickup, like on your way to the hotel.

As to safe, the answer is yes. As to whether or not you will like it, that is based on personal taste, but I will say probably.

Honestly taking the Sun Trolley is SOOO simple and you take it ti the end and you'll be in a shopping Center with a Publix grocery store and Total Wine. It worked out perfectly. And we also thought it was safe.
