When to avoid cruising in Asia in 2016

We did Singapore to Dubai on the Century in late March and early April. We had four ports in India. We thought that India would not be hot in March. WRONG. Temps were in the mid 90s and felt higher.

Suggest going to India when it is cooler.

Depends on where you are going in Asia. Southeast Asia is hot and humid most of the time since it's near the equator. Japan, Korea and northern China can be extremely hot and humid during the summer months.

Another thing to consider is the rainy season.

Best thing might be to select where you want to go and then search historical weather. Once you select the time of year, check for holidays - Chinese New Years for example - most things are closed for a week during the celebration. In Japan, Golden Week is a holiday where most business close.

If your using a travel agent, they can probably help or answer your question based on their experience.

We were there last year during the holiday after our cruise and things only close for one day and not everything. It is worth it as the fireworks are like on steroids and the night parade is amazing even with crowds.

Cruising during school holidays may be really annoying to some and they often hurt the pocket with sky high prices.

Here are a list of school holidays for 2016 in the Asia Pacific region major ports:

Good luck cruising!

Thanks for the info ...

We sailed over Chinese New Year this year and found that while some sites were closed most were open. Hong Kong was overcrowded and I would never go back there again during Chinese New Year. Too many people. The Asians decorate for Chinese New Year and it adds much colour to your sightseeing. We found the traffic in Viet Nam to be less since most locals had gone home for the holiday. Our trip from Hanoi to Halong Bay took only a couple of hours as there was no traffic to speak of on the road.
