Just tried booking through them, and yes, a list of cabins come up with the cabin number to select!!!

Now, how can they do this for Sunwing but for us, no the system can't cope!!!! :mad:

How did the prices compare Sailaway - like for like ie same sailing date and cabin category? We know they can get AI and cabin choice free but are they paying a premium for that?

at current exchange rates like for like christmas week standard cabin....it still works out cheaper for them (if you factor in the ai) poss because its not so far to fly

but?.. with a price drop gurantee available.... their current price is not likely to go down much...only up

Difficult to work out with flights but I priced up the flight only from the same website and took that off the cruise price.

Did a comparison with Cuban Fusion, 03 Feb.

Thomson

Cruise only: £938

Drinks Package: £398

Prebook cabin: £42

TOTAL: £1,378

Sunwing

Cruise: $3,040

(- Flight: $1,880)

Drinks Package: Included

Prebook cabin: Included

TOTAL: $1,160 = £626.86

I know when you book flight only, these are more expensive than what they are when you book a package, but still seems to be a considerable difference,

I cant see the canadians going for cornish pasties & quiche for their evening meals (or seafood/crab stick thermidor) ....... or having to pay extra for coke in a can:rolleyes:

Rather limited dining options too as compared with the large American ships - and if they are used to the kind of ships normally sailing out of Fort Lauderdale and Miami they may be in for quite a surprise! :rolleyes:

I bet Thomson are trying this out because the American ships can't go into Cuba so the itinerary may have quite an appeal. It doesn't look like they are advertising Celebration so it would seem the Havana itinerary is the draw.

That's a lot. What's more with a significant uptake from Sunwing the prices will hold up for the UK market and late deals will be less likely.

good point kruz...the cuba itinerary will be a big a big draw...that will keep the prices up:(

plus i dont think sunwing fly to barbados? but they do fly to montego bay (will fill up their aircraft too)....smiles all round for thomsons and sunwing;)

Got to be careful how I put this, and not all Canadians had them, but these were a favourite receptacle for the All Inclusive drinks in Mexico. Wonder if Thomson will be able to cope? :eek:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bubba-Keg-52-Mug-Green/dp/B001CJF7M4

52oz's...thats about 3 pints!

and (I had better be careful how I put this....but) thoms might have to invest in bigger plates:o

I did an Alaskan cruise on NCL & there were certainly a lot of Canadians aboard. Fine people that they are, they certainly knew how to complain, & this was on a bright classy cruise liner with multiple restaurants, monster casino with full theatre etc. If they end up on the Dream where you have to pay extra for a safe or room service I suspect they will feel they have landed in the third world... Reception had better lay on extra staff to handle the complaints.

I hope they know what they are doing....not sure thoms can cut it with the north american market

I think their experience of cruise ships (primarily the American market) may be somewhat different. I notice Thomson have been upfront with the age and history of the Dream to cover their back - for people who read the spiel, don't think through the implications and then complain it's not what they expected. :rolleyes:

When we went on NCL I'll never forget the guy on the next table asking if he could have the steak AND the lobster off the menu and on the same plate! Thomson might have to rethink their menus somewhat for an American market! :rolleyes:

Can't say I'm too happy about it. We cruise with Thomsons as it's been a predominantly British cruise experience, and have to pay £199 each for our Dream drinks package on Cuban Fusion, despite booking 13 months before our cruise. If I'm going to get second class treatment then perhaps it's time to look at other companies.

Hmm....very interesting!

I see the information has been translated into transatlantic English ;)

Staterooms = Cabins

Holidays = Vacations

Perfumes = Fragrances

Clothes = Apparel

Mobiles = Cell Phones.......etc etc

I do think it is cheeky to give free AI when we are not allowed to have it in the Caribbean :mad:

Tips included yes, but I wonder, though, what they will think of the extra charges for safes and for steak in the dining room :eek:

I see the "staterooms" have all been reburbished - hmm, well our bathroom certainly wasn't last year!

I notice it says it "embraced the Thomson Dream cruise ship name" in 2012. Well we were on her in 2010 and I'm sure it was call the Dream then! Lots of people calling it the Nightmare if I recall ;)

The dress code......."dinner jacket and slacks" - an interesting combination :D

I must say the cabins look good in the photos, must have better lighting than my photo. This is mine although it was taken BEFORE the platinumisation, lol
