Miami Hilton Downtown or Holiday Inn Port of Miami??

We usually stay at the Intercontinental Downtown Miami pre-cruise. But it is already showing to be sold out the night before our November cruise. So we're having to look at other options. We love the IC due to the location - overlooking the port, close to Bayside (feel safe walking around down there), close to CVS/liquor stores for last minute cruise shopping. Considering the Miami Hilton Downtown and the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. What are the pros/cons of each? Any other hotels we should consider in that area? A nice pool is a MUST as we are getting in early the day before the cruise and want to take advantage of some pool-time! Looking to stay around or under $200/night.

Thanks in advance!

If you like the IC, know the Holiday Inn is older and not in the same class as the business hotels in the area like IC.

Maybe look at the Hampton Inn and Suites Brickell. Excellent location to everything you need, really nice breakfast and if you want to head to the Bayside mall area, there's a free metromover. Only a handful of minutes further from the port. join HiltonHonors and get a % off the rates.

Thanks for the info! I checked out the hotel on line and it looks great! I've not stayed in the Brickell area before. Is there a drug store within walking distance to the hotel for last minute purchases? Also, we'll have a toddler with us. Would this area be safe for walking around with a little one?

Yes, many stores for last minute items within a couple blocks. It's a popular area and safe for you. (We always see families at breakfast time.) You can take the free metro mover over to the IC area, if you want to pick up a tour at Bayside or revisit the spots you like near the IC.

You can read lots of reviews on trip advisor and get more info regarding the area there too.
